Prof. Abdur Kadir Donuk spoke about the Uighurs at the commemoration meeting of the late Isa Yusuf Aliptekin in Istanbul and said: “China has been trying to Chineseize the people it has taken under its control from the past, but Isa Yusuf Aliptekin was a leader who strongly opposed it. During the time of Jesus Yusuf Aliptekin, the cause of East Turkistan did not receive the support of the world community.

He said: “During his life, he was close to the late leader Jesus Yusuf Aliptekin, and went to various cities in Turkey to give lectures on the Uyghur issue, and was one of the individuals who tried to put the Eastern issue on the agenda of Turkistan. He also actively participated and spoke or presided over meetings about Uyghurs.

We also talked about the deceased with Dr. Omar Gul, the former president of the Isa Yusuf Aliptekin Foundation and the vice director of the Turkology Research Institute of Istanbul University, and the deceased’s student.

Dr. Umar Kul talked about the life of the deceased and his work for the Uyghurs. Regarding Turkistan, it was recommended to conduct research related to Osman Batur. Since then, I also started to pay attention to East Turkistan through the medium of the deceased. The late Abdur Qadir Donuk educated many students like me. His memory was to organize and research the problem of the Turkic world, especially East Turkistan. Before me, a teacher named Abdulla Bakir was assigned the task of researching the life of Muhammad Imin Bughra. Whenever East Turkistan organizations called for a meeting, they would actively come and speak about East Turkistan in the meetings or preside over the meeting. His office was bustling with visitors, most of whom were from East Turkistan, and he was originally from Karakalpak Turks from Turkistan. He did not discriminate between the Turkish peoples. For him, Turkishness was important, so he paid attention to the Turkish world. He did not offend anyone. May God bless him and rest in heaven.”
