“Court and diplomacy are both important in holding China accountable” – Uighur

On August 17th, the president of the World Uyghur Congress, Sang Isa, the director of the Uyghur Human Rights Project, Omar Kung, and international legal lawyer Michael Polek filed a complaint against the Chinese Genocide in the Argentine Criminal Court. (Mark R. Stanley) invited them to his home and talked about the appeal submitted to the Argentinian court and the international development of the Uyghur rights case, as well as the role of the United States in this matter.

Tsang Jesus said about the meeting on Twitter: “Mark Stanley, the US ambassador to Argentina, warmly welcomed us at his home in Buenos Aires. We discussed how we can use international cooperation and practical actions to get the Uyghurs to account from China.” “It’s very encouraging to meet our friends around the world who support us.”

In his speech to our radio, Mr. Wang Isa said that the meeting with the ambassador was very good.

Omar Wing expressed his impressions of the meeting on Twitter, thanked the US ambassador to Argentina, and said: “In these days when we are continuing our efforts to hold China accountable through the Argentine court, we had the opportunity to show how the international community is also making efforts for justice.”

On August 18, Mark Stanley, the US ambassador to Argentina, tweeted in English and Spanish: “We met with the leaders of the World Uyghur Congress to urge them to stop the genocide and crimes against humanity that are being committed against Uyghurs and other minorities in Xinjiang. We’ve learned more about the subpoena. The US government will continue to support Uyghurs in their struggle to protect human rights and human dignity.

Speaking about the importance of this meeting, Mr. Wang Jesus said: “This meeting with Ambassador Mark Stanley was a strong inspiration for our appeal to the Argentine court this time, and it gave us courage.”

On August 17th, Jesus, Omar Kung, etc. also met with Rabbi Diego April (Diego Ariel) from Jewish organizations and Jewish people in Argentina. Diego April said that he will stand with the Uyghurs in the fight against the genocide.

Mr. Wang Isa said that China should use the court and diplomacy to bring the genocide crime to trial. In order to reduce the interference of the Argentine government, which is close to the Chinese government, it is necessary to meet with politicians, non-governmental organization leaders and religious leaders to gain their support.

Mr. Wang Jesus said that Argentina was a country that once gave refuge to Jews who fled the Nazi genocide, and the court here has the right to open independent trials for genocide crimes. Therefore, this activity in Argentina is very meaningful and effective.
