What is hidden behind the siege measures to “reduce the infection to zero” in the Uyghur region?

According to China’s “Xinjang Newspaper”, “Tangritag Network” and other state media, the 18th press conference on the epidemic was held in Urumqi on August 25. In the press conference, it was promoted that the epidemic situation in the Uyghur region is improving, and quarantine measures will be relaxed in the areas where there are no new infections. However, the meeting also stressed the seriousness of the infection situation in some areas, and stressed that strict quarantine measures to “reduce the infection to zero” will continue in these areas.

In the press conference, it was stated that the regions of Urumqi, such as Tirya Tagh, Saibag, are the most affected areas. These areas are the most populated areas for Uighurs in Urumqi. However, the press conference did not mention the epidemic situation in Urumqi’s areas such as Wujiachu, which has a large Chinese population. Similarly, in the case of the epidemic in Ili Prefecture, it was shown that all of the 49 newly infected asymptomatic patients are in Yining City, and it is emphasized that strict quarantine measures such as “reducing the infection to zero” will continue in these areas.

In China’s “Undidar” and “Tik-Tok” social networking forums, the comments about the epidemic were largely based on the strict lockdown measures being implemented in areas inhabited by Uyghurs and protests against it.

So, is the epidemic situation really serious in areas where Uighurs are concentrated? Why are there no detailed data on epidemics in areas with large Chinese populations? What is hidden behind the siege measures that the authorities are carrying out in the areas where Uyghurs are heavily populated in the name of “reducing the infection to zero”?

The political situation analysts and medical experts interviewed by our radio said that the political intentions of China to fully control the Uyghurs are hidden behind the targeting of areas where Uyghurs are concentrated in this strict siege measure of “reducing the infection to zero”.

Mr. Ilshat Hasan, the deputy director of the World Uyghur Congress Executive Committee, believes that the Chinese government’s lockdown measures in the name of controlling the epidemic are clearly for political purposes.

He emphasized that this strict siege measures to “reduce the infection to zero” is actually a measure of the Chinese government to fully control the Uyghurs and even continue the ongoing genocide policy in the region to the end.

Mr. Elshat Hasan also said that the siege of “reducing the infection to zero” in the Uyghur region may be more terrible than the Chinese cities of Wuhan and Shanghai.

He emphasized that the authorities’ suppression of information in the Uyghur region is more severe than in the Chinese provinces. So now that it is impossible to get further information about the Uyghurs, it is difficult to know what other purposes the Chinese government has behind this siege.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Doctor of Washington Central Hospital Mr. Jurat Obul commented on this and said that besides the political intention of completely controlling the Uyghurs, Chinese companies may be pursuing economic efficiency under the excuse of the virus epidemic.

Mr. Jurat Obul said that the true purpose of the measures such as the complete blockade of the Uyghur region, the daily inspection of the epidemic situation, vaccination, and the distribution of unknown drugs to the Uyghur people are questionable. From this, it can be assumed that the Chinese government is testing vaccines and medicines in the Uyghur region that it wants to introduce to the international market.
