Kazakhstan’s Panfilov County, which is a region bordering the Uyghur region of Yarkent, is inhabited by Kazakhs, Uyghurs and other ethnic groups. They participate in national and international competitions in various sports and achieve great results. Among them are those who compete in the sport of grappling.

“Grappling” is usually a form of body movement that incorporates the techniques of several types of wrestling, including Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The tournament, held in Noor-Sultan, was organized by the World Federation of Grappling Enthusiasts.

The main reason for the organization of the meeting held in Yarkent city was the Asian competition among young people in grappling, which was held in Nur-Sultan, the capital of the country. President of the county Uyghur center Azad Gaitov, member of the Republican Uyghur Ethno-Cultural Center directorate Sabit Hajim Yusupov, senior teacher Ulimajan Tashmetov, chairperson of the Women’s Council near the cultural center Mahinur Ayupovalar, among the artists who were invited to the meeting, were a number of athletes who have achieved success. He greeted warmly and presented his gifts. Among them was Yasmina Islamova, who recently won a bronze medal at the World Swimming Championships in Charlotte, USA.

Three days before the meeting, the residents of Yarkand warmly welcomed the Asian champions who returned from Nur-Sultan.

Farukh Marupjanov, who won first place in the Asian Games, said that nearly 20 athletes from the “Gratsiabarra-Yarkant” club participated, and 19 of them won. Alpamis Usabayev, Ilyas Abdullayev, Sait Iminov, Safina Salaidinova are among them. The club is currently managed by Balkhiyar Tayipov, a republican and international athlete in several types of wrestling. More than 100 athletes from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan participated in the competition.

Farukh Marupjanov, who was born in Yarkent in 2006 and is currently in the 11th grade of Jambul High School, won the competition and won the gold medal.

“I’ve been doing jiu-jitsu for four years this year,” he said. My parents did not object to my interest in sports. My teachers at school also supported me. Since it’s my chosen physical activity, I think I’ll stick with it until the end. This is my first time competing at a high level. I was very happy and proud to beat my partners and give me the medal. This was a tough challenge for us before the competition. He chose for a long time. We participated in several competitions across Kazakhstan. My goal now is to compete in the World Championships. This was my first big success. Of course, I would like to thank my parents for their constant support. Also, the role of our coach, Balkhiyar Tayipov, has been great. He spared no time, no knowledge, no effort, and was always with us. Under his leadership, our team participated in several international competitions and won. Our success was welcomed by the people of Yarkand on the streets. We’re really excited about that.”

The Deputy Chairman of the County Uyghur Cultural Center Dantjan Zaytov said: “Yarkent region is proud of its many athletes. Nurbakit Tembayev, the champion of the Olympic Games, Arman Rozakhunov, who brought jiu-jitsu to Yakutsk, Yusufzhan Valiyev, Ilshat Osmanov, Bakhiyar Tayipov, Akvarzhan Niyazov, current trainers. The students of the sports teacher Aziz Abdusalamov and Yalkunjan Gojashev of the Grand Chighan High School were named the champions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. There are many children in the county who are training in football, volleyball, chess, checkers, jiu-jitsu, and others in a sports school for young children and teenagers and more than 50 clubs.

Even before the Olympics, there were champions in various sports. Gulminem Iminova, who has won multiple competitions in Kazakhstan, Asia and the world, is also engaged in jiu-jitsu and grappling. He was a disciple of the above-mentioned Balkhiyar Tayipov.
